A Study on the Support System for the Aged and the Function of Private Support System

Abstract
|
|
|
The support system for the aged is divided into public support system and private support system. While the former is seen in traditional agrarian society, the latter in industrial society. Institution which this public support system represents is social security institution. It is generally accepted that as society changes from agrarian society to industrial society, the pattern of support system for the aged also changes from private support system to public support system.
So far, family support system a kind of private support system.is dominant in Korea. But in proportion as industrialization makes progress rapidly and much, it is pre-estimated that family support system gets smaller and public support system larger.
Therefore, While govermmental policies which stimulate the function of family support system should be implemented, welfare support system for the aged with special needs that can not be protected in family should be increased.
